HAND, FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE

03-HFMD.jpg
Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease (HFMD) is caused by the Coxsackie virus and Enterovirus 71. The throat and tonsils develop small ulcers while the hands, feet, and diaper area are affected by a rash with characteristic vesicles (very small blisters). This is usually a mild illness with the rash healing in 5 to 7 days.

HFMD is spread from person to person by direct contact with the nasal discharge, saliva, faeces and fluid from the rash of an infected person. Both adults and children can be affected, but young children below five years are particularly susceptible.

More information can be found at HPB's Website on HFMD.

SAFETY & SECURITY ARE OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE

We would like to remind all parents NOT to come into the school compound when sending or picking up your children. Please wait outside Gates 2 or 3. If you need to see a staff member urgently or for any other matters, please REPORT TO THE GENERAL OFFICE FIRST.

For parents who drive in to pick up your children, please do not park your vehicle at the porch area at any time as it will block the safe passage of school buses and vans. Please sit in or stand by your vehicle while waiting for your child to come to the pick-up point just after the lobby. Parents of P1 & P2 pupils, please do not wait at the lobby as this will add to the congestion when the pupils who go home by school bus assemble there before boarding the bus.

Parents are strongly discouraged to alight/fetch your children at the bus stop infront of school gate 3, alone Bukit Panjang Road. You may want to be advised to observe the traffic regulations & practice good road safety habits. For more information, please refer to http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onemotoring/en/on_the_roads/traffic_management/full_day_buss_lanes.html
